FilmionBot is the robot Filmion uses to analyze a website. It visits a site only when that site's owner asks Filmion to rebuild it: when someone plans a new site on Filmion, they can give the address of the site they have today, and FilmionBot visits it so the new site keeps their own facts, such as the business name, phone number, opening hours, services and prices.
It is not a search engine. It never visits a site on its own, it does not index the web, and it visits again only when the owner asks again.
How it names itself
Every request FilmionBot sends carries this user agent:
FilmionBot/1.0 (+https://filmion.ai/bot)
How it behaves
- It asks for your robots.txt first and follows it. A group for FilmionBot applies to it; without one, the group for every robot (User-agent: *) does.
- It visits one page at a time and waits at least 0.6 seconds between pages. If your robots.txt sets a Crawl-delay, it waits that long instead, up to 10 seconds.
- It visits at most 25 pages of a site for one request, starting with the pages your sitemap.xml lists.
- It stays on the site it was given. It does not follow links to other sites.
- It only opens public pages. It never fills in a form, signs in, or sends a password, and it stops downloading a page after 2 MB.
How to keep it out
To keep FilmionBot off your whole site, add these two lines to the robots.txt at the top of your site:
User-agent: FilmionBot Disallow: /
To keep it out of one part only, name that folder instead:
User-agent: FilmionBot Disallow: /private/
FilmionBot then visits nothing your robots.txt keeps it from. The person who asked is told that the site could not be analyzed, and they can type their facts in themselves.
What it keeps
What FilmionBot finds is used only to plan that person's new site, and it is kept with that site in their Filmion account. How Filmion handles information is set out in the Privacy Policy.
